Aging and People with Disabilities, part of the Oregon Department of Human Services , is currently looking for one full-time, permanent dedicated and compassionate individual to provide services as an Office Specialist 2 in the Hermiston office.

This position provides initial contact to applicants/consumers coming into the office or calling by phone. Complete basic clerical related tasks in support of management, human service specialists and case management staff in the district.


General office conditions. May come into contact with hostile, angry or mentally disabled individuals. May come into contact with persons who have communicable diseases.

This position requires occasional travel of more than 100 miles per one-way trip. This position requires a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record. If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation. This position is in an office environment that includes long periods of sitting for data entry and document reviews. Daily ongoing use of a keyboard and CRT screen are necessary.

This position is expected to provide excellent customer service for our consumers, community partners and the general public.

Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

an Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR

Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


The Most Competitive Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with a human service/social service program.

Experience explaining rules, policies and procedures.

Experience providing customer service verbally and in writing.

Experience performing data entry.

Experience processing confidential information.

In an office setting, experience working collaboratively as a member of a team.

Experience organizing tasks and managing multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
