Area Manager wanted in Plymouth, Michigan to be responsible for development of specialized production equipment and processes for automotive headlamps and tail lamps, including design and development of robotic UV hardcoating systems} troubleshooting/ managing maintenance of vacuum sputtering and plasma processes, the development of vacuum process parameters to meet customer performance criteria, processing of anti-condensation coatings and specification /procurement of equipment to process anti-condensation coatings, design of control systems and programming of logic controllers and plan the use of materials and human resources; oversee supervisors, cell leaders, process technicians and associates to ensure safety, productivity and quality on their shift; communicate with teams to understand all operational and quality issues; monitor inventory levels and staffing to ensure that the production schedules can be met; give direction and support to the production supervisors and cell leaders as required; ensure all operators are trained effectively on safety, manufacturing processes and quality checking aspects of their jobs; ensure company policies are adhered to by all production supervisors, cell leaders and process technicians; support quality reviews for customers; conduct performance reviews as required; work with production supervisors to coordinate activities of the floor staff in accordance with daily production schedules and initiate changes to the production schedules as necessary; work with appropriate teams to root cause problems that arise effectively and efficiently; work with JHSC to conduct audits, identify safety issues and ensure legislative compliance; make sure all necessary communication is passed on to the production supervisor coming on duty: understand the current status of all processes and equipment throughout the facility and involve the proper disciplines in problem resolution; drive continuous improvement throughout the organization; drive corrective actions with production supervisors and cell leaders; ensure that all equipment and process capabilities are being maximized to achieve peak efficiencies; conduct meetings and set priorities based on the needs of the business; make decisions regarding the operation, based on customer's needs, needs of the business and the needs of employees; utilize ongoing understanding of KPI results such as scrap rates, downtime and efficiencies audit results and findings from both internal and external audits (quality, environmental and safety); drive scrap and labor efficiency metrics to meet business plan goals; comply with and ensure all employees adhere to the employee handbook and applicable standards (TS/ISO) and conduct other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications/Requirements
Requires an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and 2 years experience as a Project Manager-Advanced Activities; Project Manager; or Systems Engineer Technician. The related experience must include experience with developing specialized production equipment for automotive head lamps and tail lights, including: design and development of robotic UV hard coating systems, experience with vacuum sputtering and plasma processes and development of process parameters to meet customer performance criteria, experience with processing of anti-condensation coatings and experience with design of control systems and programming of logic controllers.40 hours per week; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; $106,860.00 per year.
